The Merchant Hotel is often praised for its central location, offering convenient access to Belfast's attractions, shops and restaurants. Many guests appreciate the spacious, luxurious rooms and the unique features like rainfall showers, while others highlight the stunning architecture, particularly in The Great Room restaurant, where the food is considered fantastic. The rooftop gym and hot tub, complete with city views, are another popular amenity; some guests, however, have noted that the cocktail menu could be expanded for the hot tub area. Some guests in the rooms facing Skipper Street find the noise from nearby pubs disruptive, particularly late at night.

The room was indeed large. It had two separate sinks and a rainfall shower (a really nice feature). The food at the restaurant was fantastic. The Irish Coffee was also a unique experience.
The cocktail menu seemed a bit reduced.

The gluten-free options were REALLY limited at breakfast, especially disappointing as it was listed as a feature. My daughter could only have a grapefruit one morning. It was not the luxury hotel experience we expected! I felt a lack of care when staff didn't proactively offer alternatives or make arrangements for the second day. It put A real damper on our stay.
